Roberta Fantoni
ENEA – FSN-TECFIS – CR Frascati (Italy)
Doctor Roberta Fantoni is the head of the division TECFIS “Technology Applications for Security and Health” at Fusion and Technology for Nuclear Safety and Security Department of ENEA the Italian National agency for new technologies, Energy and sustainable economic development. Her role is to coordinate researches in the field of development of applications of ionizing and non-ionizing radiations, including processes and diagnostics based on lasers and particles (electrons, protons) beams for the Industry, Environment, Cultural Heritage and Bio-medicine, and Micro-Nanotechnology.
After a degree in chemistry she became a specialist in optoelectronics dealing with laser applications, especially those related to innovative sensors development. She is a known expert in the field of laser spectroscopy and diagnostics, which include elastic scattering, IR diode laser spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, visible/UV emission spectroscopy, multiphoton Ionization, Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF), Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), and several non-linear techniques (CARS, DFWM, LIGS). Major activities concern applications of the spectroscopic techniques as on-line diagnostics during different process, from laser assisted chemical reactions to environmental analyses. A significant part of her recent scientific activities has been dedicated to the development of diagnostics for environmental monitoring (air, water and soil) including for cultural heritage conservation. Recently she coordinated the regional project COBRA dedicated to innovation and technology transfer in Cultural Heritage conservation.
Author of 164 scientific papers of peer review papers and 25 book chapters in the field of spectroscopy and laser applications.
